AC Milan and Atalanta to discuss the future of 3 players

AC Milan and Atalanta will have to sit down and discuss the future of three players in January, a reports claims.

“Gomez is a player of Atalanta and we are covered in that role. If there is a role where we do not need players, it is precisely that, no signings are needed there. For the player it is a delicate moment and with what I know Atalanta do not consider him up for sale or on the transfer market. It would not be correct to talk about a player in that situation now“, said Paolo Maldini, before the kick-off of Milan-Lazio in an interview with DAZN.

Words that seem to close the possible arrive of Papu Gomez at AC Milan. It is obvious that the Argentine attacking midfielder is not a priority but only an opportunity, which could become concrete in the last days of the January window when Atalanta could be forced to lower their reported 12 million euros price tag for Papu.

If AC Milan really decide to pursue Gomez then the Rossoneri would have a preferential lane, also because there are still a couple of discussions open between the two clubs. For now AC Milan have prioritized renewal talks with Hakan Calhanoglu. If the Turkish midfielder refuses to renew then Milan will switch their attention to Papu reports MilanLive.it.

But the future of Gomez is not the only topic of discussion between Milan and Atalanta. Caldara and Pessina are the other two names on the table. Caldara is on loan until the end of the season (he’s currently injured) and Atalanta must pay a fee of €15 million in order to make his transfer permanent.

Matteo Pessina is a player of Atalanta but the Bergamo club owe AC Milan 50% of his future resale. The 23-year-old Italian midfielder is playing a key role for Atalanta this year after a fine season on loan at Verona. Pessina was also a transfer target for the Rossoneri last summer and is still on Maldini’s list as a possible replacement for Rade Krunic.
